Gold Entertainment Media Group is a full-service creative production company specializing in development and production. GEMG creates and produces feature films and television series - in the unscripted and scripted space. The company was founded by director, producer and writer Danny Gold. 
 

Gold and his creative team specialize in stories that celebrate music, friendship, laughter and the creative spirit, with expertise in developing, and producing original material across multiple platforms including television, new media, feature films and theater. Gold also has extensive background in scripted films, including developing and executive producing the Agent Cody Banks franchise for MGM.
 

Three of his documentaries have premiered on HBO: The Emmy-nominated IF YOU’RE NOT IN THE OBIT, EAT BREAKFAST, starring Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Dick Van Dyke, Norman Lear, Kirk Douglas, Betty White, Tony Bennett and Jerry Seinfeld; the Oscar-shortlisted for Best Original Song, THE BRONX, USA; and most recently THE SUPER BOB EINSTEIN MOVIE, starring Jimmy Kimmel, Larry David, Cheryl Hines, JB Smoove, Susie Essman, Money B, David Letterman, Steve Martin and Patton Oswalt.

Danny Gold

Danny Gold is an award winning seasoned filmmaker with expertise in developing, producing and directing original material across multiple platforms including television, new media, feature films and theater.

 

He also has extensive background in feature films including developing and Executive Producing the Agent Cody Banks franchise for MGM. Danny co-directed the award winning feature documentary “100 Voices: A Journey Home”.

 

His film, “If You’re Not In The Obit, Eat Breakfast”, starring Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Dick Van Dyke, Norman Lear, Kirk Douglas, Betty White, Tony Bennett and Jerry Seinfeld premiered on HBO and was nominated for two Emmy nominations.  The title song from The Bronx, USA movie was shortlisted by the Oscars. Danny’s most recent film, “The Super Bob Einstein Movie” premiered on HBO in December of 2021. 

Taryn Grimes

Taryn Grimes is an award-winning producer, director, and writer. Her projects have appeared on HBO, CNBC, AXS TV, and Showtime, as well as the big screen. She has also produced for John Hill Music, and Hudson Music; where she worked with Neil Peart, Gregg Bisonette, Steve Smith, and for Modern Drummer Festival--supervising the film production for shows featuring Sheila E, Chad Smith, Shawn Pelton, Mike Portnoy, and Antonio Sanchez, among others.

Bruce Levine

Producer / Production Executive

Bruce Levine is an award-winning producer who has worked in all aspects of film and television production.  He has been a part of the production team on the last three Gold Entertainment Media Group feature documentaries for HBO. Additionally, he has created and produced reality series for MTV.  Bruce is a graduate of the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Larry Herbst

Cinematographer / Editor / Producer

Larry Herbst's career as a cinematographer has encompassed documentary features and shorts, including Gold Entertainments' last three endeavors. His producing credits include The ArchiTECHS and Penn & Teller: Fool Us.

 

Whether embedded with Army troops training in the desert telling their stories through deployment in Iraq to taking the deepest photos in the world, as designer/builder of the camera system that captured images of Jim Cameron's Deepsea Challenger sub at the bottom of the Mariana Trench for National Geographic -- always trying his best to capture, heighten and showcase every experience.

Michael Mayhew

Editor / Producer

Michael Mayhew is an award-winning producer-editor with over two decades experience editing film and television. He is also a writer – primarily of documentaries and children’s television.  Recent work includes the feature-length documentary The Super Bob Einstein Movie, for HBO, the ABC sitcom The Kids Are Alright (13 episodes), and the Netflix holiday special Alien Xmas, executive produced by Jon Favreau. 

 

In all his work, Michael believes his role is to be of service to the story, to uncover the essential nature of the project, amplify it until it shines, and let that dictate style. 

William Coates

Development

At Gold Entertainment Media Group, William helps shepherd and develop stories, translating them from concept to reality.

 

With two masters at Indiana University in American Film History and Library Science, upon graduation, he was contracted as an archivist to the Department of Defense, then left to work in the wonderful world of rare books, manuscripts, and archives where he frequently works with writers, filmmakers, and musicians on their personal papers. 

 

He derives passion from being a lifelong student of history where he has always been entranced by stories from the past.
